LovlyNet FTN Infopack
======================

LovlyNet is a Fidonet Technology Network (FTN) built for modern bulletin
board systems. It uses the established FTN ecosystem (BinkP transport,
packed message bundles, echo and file areas) as a proven distribution
backbone, while requiring full UTF-8 support and welcoming markdown-
formatted messages and other experimental message formats across every
connected node.

Network requirements for member nodes:
  - UTF-8 compatibility (send and receive without loss/corruption)
  - Accept and pass through Markdown formatting and alternate
    style codes in echo and netmail, even if not rendered locally
  - Openness to experimental message content and extended features
  - Willingness to participate and help shape the network

== Housekeeping =============================================================

Members of LovlyNet and their users are expected to treat each other with
respect. Please avoid flame wars and personal abuse, keep political
discussion to a minimum, and be supportive of one another — disagree with
ideas, not people.

Aliases and real names are both welcome, in the nodelist and in the
echoareas. Use whichever feels like you.

Please don't gate LovlyNet traffic to other FTN networks or any other
message network without first discussing it with the admin.

We'd love for LovlyNet to stay a lively, active place. Nodes that haven't
had a single session (mail flow or not) in more than 45 days may be tidied
out of the nodelist without notice, just so things stay current for
everyone else. Regular mail flow keeps you well clear of this — it's only
about a node going completely silent. If you're having technical trouble,
reach out to the admin — we're happy to help and would much rather fix a
problem than lose a node.

If you ever decide to leave LovlyNet, please unsubscribe from all echo and
file areas before you go, so nothing keeps queuing up for you at the hub.
A quick note to the admin is much appreciated too — it lets us clean up
your node entry and the nodelist properly.

Node numbers are assigned sequentially within 227:1/*. Areafix and filefix
are supported for managing your own echo and file area subscriptions —
send requests to areafix@227:1/1 and filefix@227:1/1 respectively.

This policy may change without notice.

== Standards Compliance =====================================================

LovlyNet is built on top of established Fidonet Technology Network
standards, as outlined by the FTSC (e.g. FTS-0001, FTS-5001) and related
FTSC documents. Where LovlyNet extends beyond those standards — UTF-8,
markdown, and other experimental content — it does so as a layer on top,
not a replacement, so compliant FTN software continues to interoperate
normally.
